The Chico Arts and Culture Foundation is excited to announce the Kick-off Reception for ARToberfest 2026 – Chico’s month-long celebration of the arts. This event begins with the presentation of the 2026 Mayor’s Arts Awards by Mayor Kasey Reynolds. This will be followed by a recognition of the newly installed Chico Open Board Art (COBA) with some of the artists on site to discuss their work. There will be light refreshments, a no-host bar (of which all proceeds are donated to Chico Arts Commission programs and projects), and Chico’s treasured icon Jonathan Richman will delight guests with his acoustic guitar playing. Additionally, the Chico Art Center will be on hand with information about this year’s Open Studios Art Tour and an interactive drawing station for all to enjoy. At 5:00 pm, a guided Art Tour is scheduled showcasing a selection of public art works and visits to a number of businesses with gallery spaces.
